Journaling ...

Fri Apr 17, 2009, 2:16 PM
** Hey is anybody good a customizing CSS layouts for journals? Can I talk ou out of one? **

Ok, so I've been thinking of actually taking this 'writing' stuff serious. Or maybe I should say my need to improve my writing skills serious.
I've heard it said all my life that writers need to spend time writing everyday, even if it isn't on some part of a major project. So I've looked into different sites, some impressive and some not. My writing style is usualy creative/fictional.

Anyhow if you hate being bombbarded by journal entries I suggest you unsubscribe now. If you're looking for something to make fun of, stick around awhile I'm sure I'll give you plenty of material.

The last time I laughed really hard...

I laugh a bit each day, but my last hard laugh I think would be a week ago today.
It had been a shitty day. I woke to my 'Good Friday' off from work to the squawk of our amazon parrot. My ears ringing like a cathedral bell, my eyes watering and yet unable to open due to the sleep gunking them shut and the sinus passages in my face threatening to explode, that was my wake up. I wasn't the least bit surprised, I've had allergy problems all my life and the constant change in weather that comes with living in Missouri has left me experienced at being sick more often than healthy.
When my eyes finally stopped burning enough that I could crack them open I looked at the clock to see that it was already past ten-thirty in the morning. I already had a good suspicion of the time as my cats were playing tag across the bed and I could hear my kids chant "we want cereal" from their play room on the other end of the house. I love it that my kids are simple to please. Two bowls of cereal takes a lot less standing time than a hot breakfast. Several nasty coughs, a holler to come eat and a cup of coffee later found me in front of my lap top in the living room nursing previously mentioned cup of coffee.
We were slated to attend a bbq hosted by a coworker of mine later that day. I had every intention of going, figuring that a shot of liquid dayquil would solve my discomfort.
My cell phone started going off, it was my text ringer sounding a verse from "Stand By Me". It was a close friend of mine. She'd met this guy online, then met him in real life. Been seeing him for a couple of weeks before he had to leave country for training, he's Army you see. Something about his story didn't settle right with me, and from info I received from the guys I work with (mostly reserve or vets) this guys story didn't add up. So I figured things wouldn't last long with him.
Anyhow my friend's text asked if I was busy, I didn't feel like going anywhere so I dropped a few hints in my reply that I could talk but not get together. Her next text was strange, she asked me to check myspace and see if this guy she'd been dating had been on. I checked, he hadn't. She then said she was worried. The ass had stood her up the previous night. He was supposed to be at her place at five and never showed. She was at work (nurse) stressing about this guy and what could have happened with him. She keeps texting how worried she is and that she doesn't know what to do. My friend while capable of taking care of herself can be a damsel in distress sometimes. I'm only seeing the darker side of things. This guy played her and is now avoiding her, worst part the more I ask her the less she seems to know about him and he has a key to her place. I establish the fact that she has nothing more concrete than an e-mail address for this guy and he knows her phone number, address and has a key to her place (another story that I wont get into). Knows that she lives by herself and what time she gets off of work. My plans for that day changed then and there. By three in the afternoon she's coming around and decided that she is ending the relationship (smart!). I invite myself over under the guise of being a good 'girl friend', with the individual tubs of Ben and Jerry's finest, some booze and a chick-flick "10 Things I Hate About You". She gets off work a tad after seven. I show up with the party for two. We play catch up, attack the ice cream (I bought her an extra carton for after she gets hold of said slime ball to dump him), we discuss the changing of her locks some more. I put on the movie. My friend had a hard time believing that I would have a chick-flick on my computer. Until Kat made her appearance in the guidance councilor's office. She commented that I was a lot like Kat (cynical and out spoken), I shrugged and said that actually I was more like the guidance councilor trying to write a romance novel. We both about fell on the floor laughing. We both went strait into caughing fits due each of us having sinus infections. We really did make quite the pathetic pair which made us laugh all the harder.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.... MWAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Theory is when everyone knows all, but nothing works.
Practice is when everything works, but no one knows why.
Here we put together theory and practice: nothing works and no one knows why.

Smile-
think of somethimg beautiful,-
perhaps an apple tree in bloom;
on white winter night-
a touch of your mother's hand
on your hair when you were little;
or a sweet moment of love.

Look trustingly to heaven
and say, "Life is beautiful."
